Now, this alone isn't too concerning--maybe TransCanada was the only company who could satisfied the requirements. But that's probably my mid-western naivete giving the benefit of doubt.

Well, the lead person in Palin's Pipeline team is a woman named Marty Rutherford, who, as it turns out, worked previously for a lobbying firm--and now, you probably guessed it, here comes the rub: good ol' Marty lobbied for a subsidiary of, yep, TransCanada.

And, last but not least, a cool $500 million "incentive" was given to TransCanada, despite TransCanada's history of agreeing to do the job in 2004 without that sweetener. He may not be a licensed plumber, but he's a certified lunatic-fringe, right-wing neocon, card-carrying, registered republican. Joe--not even his real first name (it's Sam!)--believes the Iraq war has made us safer, that social security is a joke; he considers government to be akin to over-bearing parents, and that it would be an "honor" to meet McInsane. Wow!

So, let's see, he's not a plumber, but works for a plumber (but he's not even a journeyman or apprentice). He's not buying his boss's business (talked about it--but, like 'Joe' says, you have to "really watch actions"--not just words!), and his boss's business had less than $100, 000 in taxable earnings--not the $250 - $280k that he claimed he would be making when (if) he bought the business. As for Joe himself, he makes about $40k--and he's worried about making a quarter of a million in taxable income! Give me a break! It's bullshitters like Sam, or Joe, or whatever the hell you want to call him, who fit perfectly in the repugnacan party.

Fighting the Last War

Lieutenant Lunatic

The analogies of McCain fighting the last war are spot on. Hmm.
I know that Obama needs to win the election, but this is nothing less than a slippery slope. Obama must not forget that at the core of Bush's failed administration are two intertwined and failed philosophies: privatizing everything (so cronies can make a killing, I might add) and blurring the separation of church and state. If King George had his way the United States of America would be his kingdom, in which the governmental theocracy ruled, spied on, and controlled everything yet ran nothing, leaving that to private, including religious entities, so that those entities--not the public--could benefit. A perfect place for the well-to-do and well-connected, and for those that are the "correct" religion, but it's not America.

Senator Obama, when the government funnels public money--tax-payer's money--to religious organizations, with the notion that somehow the government will simply keep an eye on how it is spent (e.g., not proselytizing) is not only naive, it's fundamentally un-American, dangerous and just plain wrong!

VEEP

In reviewing the AP's 'pros & cons' I, an Obama supporter, am strongly inclined to say that the 'pros' outweigh the 'cons' and that, moreover, the 'cons' can be overcome with the correct message and vp role. Whether or not Hill-Billy can play that way remains to be seen. But, I think it is nonsense to say that their egos are too big to settle for second place. No argument about the 'big ego' but just that being a step from the POTUS is an incredible and historic accomplishment. When I look at all the possibilities, I am in favor of a Obama-Clinton ticket. When you think about it, it would be an absolute blockbuster and more of a change election than the feared "more of the old Clinton era" talk I'm hearing. We are at an historic turning point in American history. The VP should be very strong and be given a rather prominent role...just ask Bush!-)...the POTUS job has grown and needs help with an exceptionally strong VP and cabinet. Here are my top five VP picks, in order of preference:
1) Clinton
2) Webb
3) Hagel
4) Sebelius
5) Biden

Lucky 2013

2013.
That's when McBush wins the Bush war. Reassuring, isn't it? Of course we'll still have troops there, but it'll be like South Korea or Germany or some other far-fetched analogy. But, rest assured, major combat operations will be over and we will have won (wait a minute! weren't major combat operations over 5 long years ago?!). Ok, let's be optimistic here...let's not fly off into some sort of lunatic, liberal spin. Conservatively then, at 10 billion a month, over four and a half years, {quick math}...let's see, hmm, that's only 540 billion more dollars. Not so conservatively, however, estimates of spending have been as high as $720 million per day {I can't even do that math!}. And don't get me started on the figure that matters so much more...the number of dead.

2013 (coincidentally, also the year the X-Men try to overthrow the dystopian rule of the robot Sentinels in the Days of Future Past storyline).

The "Republican Brand" - A Sales Job

You may have noticed how the Repugnacans are talking a lot about their "brand" being damaged lately. He might do better with another pick, but he could do much worse too. I know Barack wants to turn the proverbial page, but you could certainly argue that, despite being a Clinton, a woman vice president IS certainly a new chapter in America's political book. Crock of S---

Absolutely amazing. Aren't we getting just a wee bit tired of "more of the same?"

Well, not only am I tired of it, I'm so angry at this bastard Bush administration and his flunkies that I simply cannot wait until we have a Democrat in the White House.

My analysis of the testimony by Gen. BetrayUs (again) & Ambassador Crock of S--- (that ain't 'soup' either):

The central issue is that good ol' moving target of "success" in this war. Ah yes, success and how to define it. We already know that Bush can't/won't provide a reasonable definition of success. Now, here again, we see how that good-for-nothing, Bush-mouth-piece, testicle-less, paper-tiger of a General is stymied by that same question. Sir, if success cannot be defined--I hate to break the news to you, again--then it can't be achieved.

I WANT OUT! And whomever will get us to that point faster will get my vote.

And before you even think about the McCainian/Bushism/Rovism that this is a "reckless retreat," ask yourself this question. How is it reckless to withdraw from a quagmire that has at its core a reckless conception?

March 4th Breakdown

Clinton has not only won the powerhouse Democratic states of California, New Jersey, and New York, but also a crucial general election swing state — a major one, Ohio, and other key battlegrounds including Arizona, Nevada, New Hampshire and New Mexico. Now, add to this another "big state"--Texas, and you can see how Obama could be seen as weak in the general election; if he can't beat Clinton in places like Ohio and Texas, how is he going to be victorious over McCain on Republican home turf?

Speaking of Ohio, the state that gave Dubya his 2004 victory, let's consider another state that gave Dubya the White House--Florida. Flash forward to 2008 Democratic primary: It was arguably a tabula rosa-like level playing field for Obama and Clinton because neither campaigned there but both were on the ballot. And who did Florida go for, albeit in a "mock primary"? That's right, Clinton--all of which spells more psychological, if not mathematical, trouble for Obama. Oh, he will most likely win the primary nomination, but that is NOT the big prize. Without the ability to make a strong statement in swing states like Ohio and Florida--which would have meant at least edging out Clinton--my fear is that he is unlikely to be a force to be reckoned with in November. And don't even give me that caucus nonsense--last I checked, caucusing doesn't win the White House.

The Shrub that Cried Wolf

"Somewhere in the world, at this very moment, terrorists are planning the next attack on America," and "They can help class action trial lawyers sue for billions of dollars -- or they can help our intelligence officials protect millions of lives."

What a bunch of bullshit! I think not. You can't have it both ways.
