Lucky 2013

2013.
That's when McBush wins the Bush war. Reassuring, isn't it? Of course we'll still have troops there, but it'll be like South Korea or Germany or some other far-fetched analogy. But, rest assured, major combat operations will be over and we will have won (wait a minute! weren't major combat operations over 5 long years ago?!). Ok, let's be optimistic here...let's not fly off into some sort of lunatic, liberal spin. Conservatively then, at 10 billion a month, over four and a half years, {quick math}...let's see, hmm, that's only 540 billion more dollars. Not so conservatively, however, estimates of spending have been as high as $720 million per day {I can't even do that math!}. And don't get me started on the figure that matters so much more...the number of dead.

2013 (coincidentally, also the year the X-Men try to overthrow the dystopian rule of the robot Sentinels in the Days of Future Past storyline).

The "Republican Brand" - A Sales Job

You may have noticed how the Repugnacans are talking a lot about their "brand" being damaged lately. I think that this is a perfect way for them to speak of their party--like some cheap, gimmicky, piece of junk that it is--and how they are trying to sell it to the American people. Like selling ice-cubes to Eskimos, or perhaps more apropos, a glass of water to a drowning man.

Obama's VP Short-List

Heard today that Hillary is on his short-list. He might do better with another pick, but he could do much worse too. I know Barack wants to turn the proverbial page, but you could certainly argue that, despite being a Clinton, a woman vice president IS certainly a new chapter in America's political book. Here's a tentative list of pro's and con's:

Positives:
  • She'd nearly guarantee her huge swath of followers (some of whom may not vote for Obama without her on the ticket) get on board
  • Women's vote
  • White, working class vote
  • Older persons' vote
  • She'd consequently help significantly with Pennsylvania and Florida (2 oldest pop states in the union) without which the entire election is in jeopardy
  • Tenacious campaigner
  • Strong assistant with foreign policy and domestic issues such as health care & education
  • Bill
  • She'd be Obama's Dick Cheney
Negatives:
  • She'd be Obama's Dick Cheney
  • Bill
  • Easier for repugnacans to paint them as the ultimate liberal ticket (and not in a good way)
  • Clinton baggage
Ok, so far the positives are winning. Anyone want to add a negative or positive?

Hillary's End-Game

I've been saying for a month now that her end-game is the VP, and now the talking heads are starting to take this seriously again. Only today, however, I've started to have some doubts, but they are small.

McBush McBlunder? McBlood for McOil

The dumb ol' fool just accidentally spoke the truth! I absolute love the way what was once propagated as the verboten, left-wing, anti-war propaganda has now become part of McBush's platform.
