The Shrub that Cried Wolf

"Somewhere in the world, at this very moment, terrorists are planning the next attack on America," and "They can help class action trial lawyers sue for billions of dollars -- or they can help our intelligence officials protect millions of lives."

What a bunch of bullshit! No one believes you and your scare-tactics anymore Shrub.

Never truer were the words of Benjamin Franklin...
Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Shame On You Is a Lame On You - Hillary

"Shame on you Barack Obama... Meet me in Ohio. Let's have a debate about your tactics and your behavior in this campaign.”

Oh, noo, noo, noo, Hillary, that's not the approach that's going to give you a chance to stay in this race. It was way too schoolmarm-like and came across as a maternal scolding...to say nothing of the hypocrisy. I mean, was her, "Obama's health care plan leaves x million people out" any less misleading? I think not. You can't have it both ways. This was a stupid and transparent pose; didn't she learn from the xerox comment that went over like a lead balloon at the CNN debate?

Hillary, we already know you are tough...that's not where your campaign has gone wrong. You'd score much more if you let your kinder/softer side show more often. That's the way she ended the CNN debate..and now she follows it up with this?! Still proud to be on the same stage? If she says anything like that at the next debate I'll puke. And if she goes nuclear in her attacks, that'll be the end of her campaign and the beginning of her treatment for a Bipolar Disorder.

Grandpa John's Got a Problem

Looks like Grandpa John's "story" is starting to unravel...as predicted. Seems as though he was contacted by Paxon Communications and asked to put pressure on the FCC to act on a stalled bid put forth by Paxon, despite his handlers now denying this ever took place. The problem? Johnny boy himself said it did! Oops. Maybe his defense will be just like Ronnie Reagan's-- "I don't recall".

Don't Get Fooled Again!

The Democratic congress needs to stand firm on Bush's spying program, particularly the retroactive lawsuit immunity for telecom companies! These so-called "partners" are partners in crime. If they aren't doing anything wrong then they have nothing to fear.

...the "partners" referred to in the letter are (unnamed) U.S. telecommunications companies, who-with administration backing-have been aggressively lobbying Congress for a controversial clause in new electronic spying legislation. The clause would effectively wipe out a series of private lawsuits seeking damages against the telecoms for their cooperation with what civil libertarians and administration critics claim was an illegal expansion of electronic spying against targets inside the U.S.-an expansion authorized by President Bush in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.

A First Step Toward Fairness?

I see David Shuster's comments earned him a temporary suspension. Let's hope this signifies a first step in correcting their bias. I said let's hope, not that it will.

Clinton Bashing

Let me go on record here by stating that there is a good chance that I will vote for Barack Obama. That being said, I'm going to probably upset some by my next comments, but what the hell, it's my blog and someone has to speak to reason and to fairness.

From my point of view it cannot be doubted that the media has nothing short of an extreme bias toward Obama and against Clinton. I can accept some of this because of the natural "story" that Obama has created; he has excited so many folks, including myself, but the degree to which an even so-called liberal network, MSNBC, can be so vitriolic toward Hillary is starting to piss me off. Disagree with her all you want, but they are being darn right contemptuous in a great deal of their "reporting". Thank goodness that a couple of the media's (MSNBC again) latest transparently rancorous jabs have finally been noticed. I guess when you start talking about "pimping out" a former child of the White House, the line has been crossed such that it cannot be ignored. A couple weeks ago, Chris Matthews offered an apology for his suggesting that Hillary's political career had been made possible by her husband's philandering! But if you really listened to it, it was more of a rationalization than an apology. Outrageous comments like this might be good for the "fringe media" but they just don't cut it for mainstream. I wouldn't blame Hillary if she decides she's above the fray and passes on the MSNBC debate--it would make a statement that she isn't going to dignify their biased point of view by appearing on their debate. This of course will be interpreted by that same media as a weak-willed woman who quits when the going gets tough, because that's the bias.

Let me be clear. I'm not so much objecting to the content of those two MSNBC comments, although one certainly could, but rather to what they reflect--a pattern of media bias that is trying to alter the election--because that is clearly more sinister.

Let's have a fair fight shall we? This means Obama versus Clinton, and not Obama and the media versus Clinton.

Back From Break

What's a sure sign that you've been gone from the blogosphere too long? How about when you forget your blogger password! Had to look back into my records to check what it was.
So, after a nearly 3 month hiatus, what should be the topic of my return post? See next post.
