Cheerleader tossed thru basketball hoop

Tell me this (click on Cheerleader Toss) has to be a fake. I can't stop watching it. Showed it to a friend and his main issue was that the cheerleader was holding her head--apparently hit it on the way thru the hoop--but the guys are busy high-fiving and nearly forget about her. Anyway, what do you think?

100 Things

Working on the ubiquitous 100 things meme...stumbling at around 70. Gotta free associate a bit more to finish it soon. Not much time to blog lately. Trying to work-out more and things are busy with my second job. Oh, I know, there's no good excuse other than lack of creative energy perhaps.

Can't get it outta my head

Ok, we've all had the experience of not being able to get a song out of your head. Well, this time it's a good experience. Absolutely loving every momemt of Bif Naked, especially Stolen Sidewalk. If you want to give it a listen, download it here. Then, if you've never seen her, take a peek here.

A GOP Kodak Moment

Thanks to Dave Pell over at electablog for this tidbit. I laughed so hard I had to pass it along here and comment on it.

It's of course Jeb Bush at his bro's inauguration. Figured he'd capture the moment with a disposable camera! What does that say about his feelings toward W? Looks like the heir-apparent is a real techie...just like his father. Reminds me of when 41, on a rare excursion to a grocery store, quizzically asked the checker what the barcode scanner was! Now, granted, this was in about 1991/2, but scanners were everywhere by then. Sheltered, privileged lives those Bushies. And dumb? To the absolute core. Back to Jeb, does he not have a digital camera? Does he not know how to use anything more advanced than a disposable camera? Does he have any clue how crappy those pix will look? And does he really need his own little shitty pictures when everybody and their republican dog was taking shots? Dave Pell commented that it simply was so un-dynastic. True, but if you strip away the family name and influence, none of those kids would have amounted to a hill of beans. They are redneck, white trash inside of an opulent shell. I'm so proud we got a third Bush term with the possibility of more.

Life's Path

It occurred to me today...at least apparently more so than on most any other day...that it is amazing how our lives could be so different than they are at this present moment if at some point in the past we had chosen a different path, made a different decision--however minor it may have been--or associated with a different person. We may, at this moment, have a different college degree--or none at all--be in a different profession, have a different significant other, child, etc. This concept struck me today when browsing through blogs at blogspot. Specifically, it happened to be http://kimberlysooninchina.blogspot.com/ but, like so many other choices, it could very well have been another site. Her site--as the domain implies--centers around her departure to, and arrival in China and her missioner experiences teaching there. So, therein lies the inspiration for this post. Strange how glancing through a total stranger's words and images can conjure up such a moving notion as life's path being so apparently, well, capricious or fickle. Then again, the drudging, mind-numbing routine that life can sometimes be leads me to another conclusion: that our life's path is not determined by a single, serendipitous and life changing decision--but rather a series of many, ingrained, similar actions, decisions and choices that all follow a similar course. Hmm, I wonder.

DIE IT! ATKINS Has a Plan

No, it's not just a diet plan anymore. But first, have I mentioned how tired I am of the Atkins diet (AKA the "eat shit and die diet")? Ok, I haven't so now I'll tell you. Don't even start with the ketosis (I thought that was bad breath anyway) crap. It's GIGO all the way. If you put that much garbage in, then what the hell do you expect to get out of it? It seems like it's always the 400 pound guy who loses 30 on this frickin "diet" of cheeseburgers and steak, and then gloats about it. A deck chair off the Queen Mary I say anyway. Like I really noticed. Oh, but he didn't mention his cholesterol doubling either! So, how have I resolved this peeve? By proclaiming the new Atkins motto: Atkins. Not just a diet, but a diet with a Social Security crisis solution! I say the more boomers on Atkins the better...let's only hope they have no survivors. Then just maybe there will be a buck-two-eighty left in the pot when I try to collect.

Tell me I didn't just see a bottle of water with "no-carb" on the label. Where's that sharp knife?

10 Random Songs Meme

Ok, so here it is--first post and it's a meme. But first the obligatory disclaimer: I shuffled My Music folder but it only has a little over 500 songs in it currently, so not exactly a stratified sampling, but a random sample nonetheless. Actually, as I look at the list, it does reflect my music taste--to the degree any 10 random songs probably could (with the exception of Disney :-)--and strangely enough, if I had to pick a single, favorite song from my favorite musician, what landed in the #1 slot may very well have been it.

1. Pacing the Cage - Bruce Cockburn
2. Let It Snow - Dean Martin
3. Goof Troop Theme - Disney
4. Hook - Blues Traveler
5. Ordinary Girl - Bic Runga
6. Shine On You Crazy Diamond - Pink Floyd
7. Do You Hear What I Hear - Perry Como
8. Cleaning Windows - Van Morrison
9. Can You Hear Me Calling - Fleetwood Mac
10. Deep and Wide and Tall - Aztec Camera
